Global Security Act was protested again in nearly 10 cities in France, especially in the capital Paris. Thousands of people took to the streets again, despite the government’s retreat due to protests in recent weeks and announced that Article 24 of the draft bill would be withdrawn and rewritten.
Demonstrators gathered in Chatelet Square in Paris, marched to Republique Square against the Global Security Act and Islamophobia. In the following hours, as the tension increased in the demonstrations, the police intervened with tear gas and pressurized water. In the events that took place during the protests, the police announced that 50 people were detained.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin stated in a statement that a total of 142 people were detained in the incidents, 24 of them were arrested. The minister thanked the security forces for the strict security measures taken by the police.
