A cyber attack was carried out against the US Treasury and Commerce Departments. In a statement made by the White House, it was stated that “a foreign government” carried out a cyber attack. It was claimed that the documents were leaked in the attack on the systems of the Ministry of Treasury and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration affiliated to the Ministry of Trade.
White House National Security Council Spokesperson John Ullyot said, “The US government is aware of the situation in question and is taking all necessary steps to reveal the details of this situation.” The National Security Council convened immediately after the cyber attack was detected.
The Washington Post made an interesting claim. Washington’s largest and oldest newspaper claimed that hackers working under the Russian government were behind the cyber attack. The Washington Post reported that the cyberattack was carried out as part of a global espionage campaign planned months ago.
LIE FROM THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY
The Washington Post claims were denied by Russia. “Malicious activities in the field of information contradict the principles of Russian foreign policy, national interests and understanding of interstate relations. Russia does not carry out aggressive operations in the cyber field. Russian Federation, bilateral and multilateral cyber security.” In this sense, we would like to remind our American colleagues of the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the field of international information security on September 25 within the scope of Russia-USA cooperation.
Big crisis! US National Security Council convened urgently
